Lucy 27th July 2021

Every time I came to the office I would be greeted so warmly by Nicky - I was always welcomed with a big 'it's Lucy Lu!' or 'hello Furbs!' followed by a big grin and some banter. I remember when I was feeling out of my depth I would often watch and listen to Nicki on the phone, and I learnt so so much from her just by doing that. I remember a bus journey we took together to a school and we chatted and laughed all the way there, but it was also an opportunity for an informal lesson on TB - and again, I learnt so much just by the way she patiently explained in an informal way. I remember that day well, getting off the bus and walking down a long road towards the school, both of us pointing out houses and gardens we liked the most (they were big!), before we reached the school where Nicki's professionalism and warmth shone from the moment she spoke to the school receptionist, and continued as she spoke to and reassured a huge group of teenagers about TB. Again, I learnt so much just from watching Nicki work. I will miss seeing you Nicki when I come in, and I will miss your support and the banter. I will miss learning from you. Thank you for everything you did.
