I was working on a complex immunisation incident n 2015, advising an NHS organisation where Nicki worked at the time. There was an impasse as a whole lot of key records were "unobtainable". Nicki managed to retrieve these and literally "saved" the incident, and spared the organisation a massive patient recall exercise. I thought she was absolutely amazing, and asked her if she would consider working for PHE, as I felt her skill mix was more suitable to HPT work. She was keen to explore this option, and she came over to spend a couple of days with us at NENCL HPT. As it happened, S London was just advertising for a post around then, and (no surprise!) Nicki got it.
We were so lucky to have her as a colleague. She was so bright and enthusiastic and such a wonderful, reliable, supportive colleague to work with. I can't believe she's gone. I do however believe that wherever she is, she will be making that place better by her joyful presence.
